Macau's annual international sports event - the 72nd Macau Grand Prix will be held from November 13 to 16 this year. The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Grand Prix Organizing Committee) held a press conference at the Macau Grand Prix Museum on June 8 to announce the details of the event.
Guests attending the press conference included: Director of the Sports Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government and Coordinator of the Grand Prix Organizing Committee Zhang Zixuan, President of the International Automobile Federation Mohammed Ben Sulayem, Chairman of the China-Macau Automobile Association General Assembly and Head of the Grand Prix Organizing Committee Event Task Force Zhong Guorong, members of the International Automobile Federation, members of the Grand Prix Organizing Committee and Task Force members, and Sports Committee members.
In his speech, Zhang Zixuan, Director of the Sports Bureau and Coordinator of the Grand Prix Organizing Committee, said that the Macau Grand Prix is the oldest sporting event in Macau. It is also an internationally highly anticipated motor vehicle event. Behind the success of the Grand Prix, it is inseparable from the trust and support of the International Automobile Federation, as well as the cooperation and joint efforts of all sectors of society. This year's Grand Prix will continue to cooperate with the International Automobile Federation to hold a number of International Automobile Federation world-class events to continue to demonstrate the important position of the Macau Grand Prix on the international sports stage. Through the hosting of events such as the Macau Grand Prix, a large number of tourists from overseas and the Mainland are attracted to Macau every year, thereby promoting the tourism economy and driving the development of related industries such as hotels, transportation, catering and retail. The SAR government will continue to optimize the organization of the Macau Grand Prix, by improving the level and quality of the event, strengthening regional and even international publicity, and holding peripheral extension activities covering different elements, so as to enhance the scattering effect of the Grand Prix. It is hoped that all sectors of society will continue to support it in the future so that this event can be inherited and developed sustainably.
FIA President Mohammed bin Sulayem said that since its inception in 1954, the Macau Grand Prix has established itself as a legendary event in the history of motorsport. Every year, the Grand Prix continues to attract fans around the world with high-speed battles, iconic street circuits and unforgettable moments that shape drivers' careers. 2024 saw the birth of the FIA FR World Cup, which is not only a competitive stage, but also a guarantee for the future development of motorsport. The FIA is committed to increasing global participation in events to ensure wider accessibility and inclusion, and the FIA FR World Cup shows how to make the pyramid structure of single-seaters more efficient, paving a clear and competitive promotion path for potential drivers. This year, the Macau Grand Prix will host the FIA Formula 4 World Cup for the first time, further consolidating its key position as an international motorsport hub.
The Grand Prix Organizing Committee announced that this year's race will host seven exciting events, including four FIA events. The seven events are: Macau Grand Prix – FIA FR World Cup, Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup, Macau Guia Race – Kumho FIA TCR World Tour Macau, Macau Formula 4 – FIA F4 World Cup, Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix – 57th Edition, Greater Bay Area GT Cup (GT4) and Macau Road Challenge.
