Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport – A Pure Racing Masterpiece Limited to 77 Units

Reviews September 15

Porsche has unveiled the 911 GT3 R rennsport, a non-homologated, single-seater customer race car that pushes the limits of performance and design. Based on the 911 GT3 R (992) and crafted to meet FIA safety standards, this track-only machine is engineered for uncompromising speed and driving pleasure, unrestricted by racing series regulations.

Performance & Powertrain

At its heart lies a water-cooled, six-cylinder boxer engine from the 992 generation, tuned with Rennsport-specific pistons, camshafts, and mapping to deliver 620 PS on E25 fuel. With a higher compression ratio than the standard GT3 R and a single mass flywheel, this powerplant produces a raw, unsilenced soundtrack through a centrally mounted double tailpipe exhaust. Mated to a six-speed constant-mesh gearbox featuring a Rennsport-exclusive performance upshift function, mechanical limited-slip differential, and electrohydraulic clutch actuator, it achieves an outstanding power-to-weight ratio of around 2 kg per horsepower — just 1,240 kg for 456 kW (620 hp).

Chassis & Suspension

The lightweight aluminum-steel body incorporates a welded roll cage and exclusive aerodynamic enhancements. The suspension setup features double wishbones at the front and a refined multilink independent rear system, both with 5-way adjustable motorsport dampers, anti-roll bar blades, and Rennsport-specific baseline tuning. Center-lock BBS aluminum wheels come wrapped in Michelin racing tires with TPMS.

Braking & Safety

Stopping power comes from ventilated and grooved steel discs with six-piston calipers up front and four-piston calipers at the rear, paired with Bosch Race ABS Generation 5. Safety is paramount, with FIA-compliant features such as a 6-point harness, safety nets, side impact protection, leg protection foam, and a roof rescue hatch.

Electronics & Cockpit

The cockpit is a stripped-down, race-focused environment with a Race-Tex dashboard, fixed racing bucket seat, adjustable pedal box, and digital side mirrors. A 10.3-inch Porsche display integrates the data logger, while a Porsche Powerbox, LED lighting, and a LiFePo battery ensure optimal track performance.

Exclusive Design & Limited Production

Only 77 units will be built, available in seven exterior colors, three exclusive paint designs, or a striking pure carbon finish. Options include custom-colored seat belts and distinctive Rennsport graphics. Measuring 4,790 mm long with a 2,507 mm wheelbase, its proportions and aero profile underscore its race-bred purpose.

Price & Availability

The Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport is priced at €951,000 (or $1,046,000 USD), excluding VAT and options. As a collector’s dream and a track weapon, it stands as one of the most exclusive and extreme iterations of the 911 ever built — a celebration of Porsche’s racing DNA, uncompromised by road or series regulations.
