Knocked out of the championship? Win the championship again! ...
The 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Challenge came to an end this week at the Inje station in South Korea. Absolute Racing Team's three regular participating teams throughout the season reaped a lot of rewards------won pole position, two group championships and multiple podium results, and started the second half of the season with a strong performance.
The Inje High-speed Circuit is 3.908 kilometers long. The entire track is shaped like a seahorse, with obvious altitude changes and multiple technical corners. Since its completion in 2013, the Inje Circuit has also hosted many events in Asia.
Absolute Racing will continue to send three regular full-season teams to compete in this campaign. The No. 63 SQDA-GRIT Motorsport team will welcome the return of Chinese driver Liang Jiatong. He will join hands with Korean local driver Changwoo Lee to challenge the Pro-Am category.
Malaysian brothers Haziq Oh and Hairie Oh will jointly drive the No. 5 HZO Fortis Racing Team by Absolute Racing car to compete in the AM category.
Indonesian touring car racers Umar Abdullah and Dypo Fitramadhan will continue to drive the No. 86 Delta Garage Racing Team by Absolute Racing car to challenge the AM category.
Qualifying
Qualifying was held first on Saturday morning. In the first qualifying session, Changwoo Lee showed his home field strength, defeated several professional drivers, and took the pole position with 1 minute 45.940 seconds. Haziq Oh helped the No. 5 car team to win the pole position in the AM group; Umar Abdullah ranked fifth in the AM group.
After a short break, the second qualifying session officially started. Liang Jiatong helped the No. 63 car team to win the fourth place in the Pro-Am category; Hairie Oh won the third place in the AM category, and Dypo Fitramadhan ranked fourth in the AM category.
As the season progressed, the three car teams all showed good single-lap rhythm, laying the foundation for the competition in this weekend's race.
First round of the race
In the first round of the race on Saturday, local drivers Changwoo Lee and Liang Jiatong were in pole position and were expected to achieve higher results. In the first half of the race, Changwoo Lee did not get caught up in the entanglement of competing for ranking with other high-class cars, and kept his own rhythm steadily, keeping his ranking in the front of the field. As the race was halfway through, due to an accident on the field, the race organizers dispatched the safety car to clear the gap on the field again. At that time, it was during the mandatory pit stop window, so the team also responded quickly and pitted immediately. After the No. 63 car group completed the handover in the pit, Liang Jiatong kept the offensive after leaving the pit. After the safety car withdrew, he quickly moved forward and regained the leading position in the group. In the last 10 minutes, Liang Jiatong had expanded his lead to 5 seconds. However, the race took a sharp turn in the last 6 minutes. Liang Jiatong, who was leading the PRO-Am group, was hit by the lagging driver when overtaking the slow car and fell to the back. But at the last moment, Liang Jiatong fought hard to catch up and regained the group podium position, winning PRO-AM group third place!
Haziq Oh and Hairie Oh won the first round of the AM class with a dominant performance. The brothers were not challenged by other opponents in the AM class and maintained their lead all the way. Even the deployment of the safety car failed to stop the team's progress. With the help of the brothers' mandatory performance in the first round of Inje Station, they won their first victory of the season.
Umar Abdullah and Dypo Fitramadhan of the Delta Garage Racing Team, both of which belong to the Absolute Racing Team, had been steadily advancing all the way and were expected to compete for the podium in the AM group. However, with 12 minutes left in the race, they lost control of their vehicles due to a collision and ended up finishing fourth in the group.
Second round of the race
In the second round of the race held at noon today, Liang Jiatong and Changwoo Lee pushed forward in the race. Liang Jiatong narrowly avoided a chaotic collision in the first half of the race and remained in the top three in the group in the subsequent races. Halfway through the race, due to a car parked on the track, the race committee dispatched a full-course yellow flag to control the rhythm of the field. The leading group completed the mandatory pit stop operation. Relying on the efficient operation of the team, Changwoo Lee took over the car and was in second place in the group. With the deployment of the safety car, the gap on the field narrowed again. After the reorganization, the race resumed in the last 10 minutes. Changwoo Lee won the group lead within two laps after the restart without any bloodshed. This time, no one else could shake the position of this pair, and they won the Pro-Am category championship with a lead of more than 5 seconds.
Delta Garage Racing Team's Indonesian pair continued their stable performance in this round. With excellent tactical execution, they quickly climbed to the AM group podium ranks after completing the pit stop, and finally maintained their position and won the AM group third place.
After reaching the top in the first round, the No. 5 HZO team continued its good pace in the second round and was in a strong competition with the leading group in the group. Unfortunately, it encountered problems in the middle of the race and failed to complete the whole race, leaving some regrets for this weekend.
2025 Lamborghini Super The Trofeo Asia Challenge will enter the summer break next. The race will go to the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia from September 5th to 7th, ushering in the penultimate race of the season. We look forward to the three drivers of the Absolute Racing Team taking the stage again and continuing their strong form!
