News & Announcements China Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit September 5
Who will embark on the road to dominance in Sichuan? From September 5th to 7th, the Geely Super Cup PRO returns to the Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit, the venue for the 2025 season's opening race, to kick off the fierce second half of the season. Given that the annual driver standings will be officially released after this race, this is sure to be the start of a fierce battle for the top individual honors for the registered drivers. Faster! Forward! Fearless! What will the PROs write in "Episode 4" of the 2025 season? Let's take a look ahead.
The decision to return to the Tianfu International Circuit for the fourth race of this season stems from the fact that the original host, the Wuhan International Circuit, was unable to meet the conditions for the event to proceed as scheduled. The return to the southwestern home of Geely Motorsports for another race on the familiar 3.26-kilometer, 19-corner circuit is undoubtedly intended to showcase the PROs' growth trajectory throughout the season. The current weather forecast indicates that all three races will be held in dry conditions and relatively comfortable temperatures, providing an ideal platform for the drivers to perform.
The primary battle on the track will focus on several drivers vying for the Driver of the Year award. According to Super G League PRO rules, to qualify for the Driver of the Year award, a driver must have competed in at least 10 rounds during the season. The first standings will be released after this race.
It's no secret that the two full-year drivers from the Black Mamba by TRACKFUN Racing team are the clear favorites to win the title. While "Tangzhu (Zou Yunfeng)" hasn't lived up to expectations so far this season, he's been a real contender in Chengdu. Looking back at the races at the end of May, he's already secured third place in two rounds. Of course, "Tangzhu" is also hoping to secure his first win of the season in Tianfu, setting a strong start for the second half of the season. His teammate, Liu Xiaohua, achieved his first win in a long time in Zhuzhou, Hunan. With consistent performances this season, he hopes to maintain his established advantage and ultimately claim the Driver of the Year award.
Furthermore, Yan Hancheng of TEAM DIXCEL, Fu Guxiang of Jiekai Racing, and Yang Wenbin of Hongxin Racing are also crucial contenders. After switching to the Sino-Japanese Racing Team, Yan Hancheng has won the endurance races in the past two events, demonstrating a rapid upward trajectory. The two "Bauhinia" drivers have continued to advance through their long-term participation in the Super Ji League PRO, becoming strong contenders for the podium at every round. Yang Wenbin has been the biggest surprise of the season so far. Fresh off his first win, he's poised to crack the top three of the year.
Another year-round registered driver worth mentioning is Yan Jiazhen, the #55 driver of the Magic Racing Team, who has only missed one Super Ji League PRO event (the 2024 Zhejiang Shaoxing race) and is a witness to the competition's growth. According to team founder Ma Qinghua, he represents another group of drivers in the race. "China's No. 1 Racing Man" stated, "Speaking of Yan Jiazhen, his story is somewhat legendary. Before entering the mid- to high-level Super Ji League PRO, he was practically a racing novice, with no racing experience. But he continued to learn through the competition. While he still has a significant gap to reach the podium, he has found joy in racing as a hobby. After all, his regular work schedule is quite demanding, and racing offers a chance to unwind."
From Gao Xiang/Lin Chenghua winning the annual class championship in their first season to their mediocre results in the last two seasons, Ma Qinghua feels a sense of regret, but he also sees "new hope." Ma Qinghua stated, "From the outside, our team has been a bit 'participation-focused' these past two seasons. However, we want to help every driver who dreams of racing truly understand the sport. After all, racing isn't just about speed and passion, it's also about endurance and perseverance. Now, our team has welcomed a new driver, Gu Ziyue, who is relaunching his racing career. This weekend, he will continue to partner with Sun Ruyi, and perhaps a new story for the Magic Racing team will begin."
Those familiar with the Chinese karting scene will be familiar with the name Gu Ziyue. As a teenager, he was a regular on the podium of various domestic karting competitions. Five years later, the young man once again dons a racing jersey and embarks on a journey of chasing speed. Ma Qinghua said, "His speed is quite good, and his performance in the few races he's participated in shows that he has a good feel for the car and a solid foundation. However, his lack of experience and rhythm is quite noticeable. For example, he downshifted too quickly after braking, breaking a half-axle. I hope to help him better understand the 'big car' driving style through my own words and actions."
It's time to unveil the driver lineup for this race. In addition to the drivers introduced earlier, TEAM DIXCEL The #328 car will be driven by Chen Pengyuan, who competed in the Chengdu season opener. Jiekai Racing will field Li Dayuan, who previously competed in Shaoxing as an independent and scored numerous points. HiRun Osa Racing will continue to field Zhu Hangxiao in the #91 car, partnered with team chief engineer Xu Zeyu (#222). Hongxin Racing will welcome back team founder Tan Haoran (#96). The 326 Racing Team will feature Mao Ming and Liu Ning (#3) and Wang Yimin and Xiao Kunpeng (#7). As for the independent drivers, Tian Feng and Liu Sen will continue their participation in the #111 car, which competed in the previous race. Dai Xueliang will make his debut in the #343 car.
The speed machines are ready to go, and a new legend is unfolding on the Bashu Circuit. From September 5th to 7th, 2025, the second half of the Super Geely League PRO season begins! Geely Holding Group's Motorsport Live Stream on Bilibili and the Super Geely League video account will broadcast the entire race from rounds 10 to 12 of this season, allowing you to experience every thrilling moment.
